On February 12, 2018, the Supreme Court issued an order adopting the Commission’s findings of fact and conclusions of law that were filed with the Commisison’s Petition for Permanent Removal from Judicial Office.  The Court also accepted Castaneda’s resignation, which he tendered while awaiting the Supreme Court’s hearing on the Commission’s petition for his removal, and ordered that he be permanently barred from ever holding judicial office again in New Mexico and that he reimburse the Commission’s costs in the matter.  A copy of the Commission’s removal petition was filed on October 10, 2017 and can be accessed in the summary provided below.  To access a copy of the Court’s final order in this matter, click here.
